Last night, my car did some weird thing and stopped in the middle of the highway. We were in 30 degree weather. The police called a tow truck before I could work anything out. They were there within a half hour. My car is gone. The car that I slept in when I was homeless. I am not materialistic, more sentimental than anything. My car is a necessity ? and a liability, not a want and an asset (financially speaking). I?m blown, not without faith but definitely feeling like I am unable to be the solution to my own problem. $240 tow and a $65 a day problem.
Many of you do not know that I offer pastoral counseling. I do not feel that this is appropriate to ?market? but people find me from all over the country as God leads. Much of my work is service that I do not get paid for because it is ministry. I?m always busy working, and serving.
Producing a book, developing healing and prevention programs, having an event these are all income generators that support my ability to be there for my family and for people who are overcoming child sexual abuse, whose children are taken and given to pedophile parents, homeless people who need help overcoming personal crisis, and entrepreneurs who call for counsel and support.
I never question whether I am doing what I am called to do, I know that I am. What I do find questionable is why there is no action from most people who say that I have impacted or inspired them in some way. Why after proving myself, offering constant free content, staying relevant and providing education on subjects that are useful to your life, I am not able to afford to get my car out of the impound?
The solution is not for me to go and work at Walmart. This would be ignorant and only silence what God has already given a voice. The reality is that getting a job, any job is not sufficient income. Many jobs like Walmart, and other places that provide jobs and not careers in your field serve as a monetary distraction to pursuing your ultimate goals.
There is not enough money at the end of the paycheck for you to invest in your business or to do what is necessary for you to become more valuable in your business. There are many examples of entrepreneurs who have come through the same channels that I have who, eventually struck oil, or water in the well landing them the client, contract, or level of business that would in fact sustain them. Giving up, and giving in is not the solution especially when you have trademarks, and niche work that solves a problem in the world.
What will it take for you to support me? I ask this question literally ? soliciting your feedback. I offer speaking engagements, I have a memoir, and a new book coming out. You know that I can write, you read my work. You also know that I can speak because I have something to share, that may be a different perspective than others who share their stories. No one can tell my story or add the insights that I do, and the same applies to you.
I am a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist, and Fibromyalgia Certified Therapist. I also have a degree in massage. My massage tables and chair were forfeited during my homelessness, so when I sell enough books I?ll go buy my table again. I have a space to massage.
Seriously, what would it take for you to say, ?I want to be a part of Ressurrection?s success?? or ?I really want to invest/buy/spread the word about her work so that more people can overcome their crisis???
Although child sexual abuse is an uncomfortable subject, it is no longer a silent epidemic. It is however a $124 billion epidemic according to the Center for Disease Control. 80% of substance/narcotics abusers were sexually abused, 80% of those who are acute/chronic mentally ill ? i.e., depression, schizophrenia etc have been sexually abused.
93% of sexual predators are religious, and child sexual abuse accounts for the reason why most people become prostitutes. 97% of homeless women have been sexually abused and/or raped.?I could go on, but my point for this paragraph is that my subject is relevant. You or someone you know have been sexually abused, and I want to end it.
Yes, my husband is amazing. He is awesome and my personal life has nothing to do with business. You go to work, and at the end of two weeks you get a check. An entrepreneur lives a life of faith that most do not understand. Ministry, I will do for free but I do not believe I?m called to live homeless and broken, so that others can be sheltered and whole.
This is not a joke, I am really asking this as a question. I am not sure how else to understand why you watch but are not compelled to invest your resources into what you believe to be impactful work. I am asking in love.
Some people like to wait until the person is accepted by others. Some people will never support your work, they are only around to watch what happens lose, win or draw. Some people want to copy you, so they stick around to study you. Some people are in it for the free content, and never had intentions on buying anything. What I am out to discover is not who I am assigned to, to help but who is assigned to my journey as a part of my target market.
