DIY and Home Improvement Bloggers Re-Arrange Furniture | DIY ...

It?s been bugging me for awhile now that we can?t comfortably accommodate guests. With only one spare bedroom that we had been using as a home office, there was obviously no room for any type of bed situation. I work from home once in a blue moon and Andrew?s job requires him to be at the office so why on earth were we so set on having a home office? Our needs a few years ago were clearly way different than our needs today; Enter epiphany #2.

Let?s face it, the love seat in the living room get?s no action. Aside from being a place for people to crash after one of our world-famous ?McBaker? parties (which only happen about twice a year) and a spot for the occasional let-me-toss-my-crap-here, the love seat gets no love.

Thus, it?s time to say goodbye. This is step one of the transition. In order to move the desk setup out of the office formerly known as ?office?, we made the love seat and the desk switch places. Brilliant, right? but wait, there?s more!

Now that the love seat has relocated, step two is to list it on Craigslist?which we did?right here. The idea is to temporarily keep the love seat in the office formerly known as ?office? so that the desk can get situated in it?s new space in the living room. Once we get rid of the love seat, we plan on adding a futon. My hope is that the futon will be a lot more compact than this bulky love seat with it?s bulky arms and huge body. I think a futon will have slimmer, cleaner lines and fit much better in the room. AND it will create that guest space we really want. Win, win.

In short, the office is now on its way to becoming a guest room and the desk is living in the living room. I think this works?how about you?
